THE PENSION STUDIO TEAM

The Pension Studio was formed in 2004 and currently provides administrative services to over 700 pension plans. Emphasis is placed on service and technology with the goal of making sure all participants are assured the ability to provide for themselves in retirement.

Ellen Quinlan has been involved in the pension industry since 1989. Most recently she was the President and a 50% owner of Retirement Alliance, Inc. (RAI) until her sale of the business on 1-14-2004. She held this position for ten years. RAI acted as the administrator of seven hundred pension plans representing 30,000 participants and over $500 million. Ellen established the company with one partner in 1994. Sales have grown each year more than 25%. There was never a layoff. As tracked by Charles Schwab, RAI had the highest client retention and closing rates. Ellen’s background includes many years of designing, administrating and implementing pension plans.

She earned her MBA from Babson and Plymouth State Colleges with an undergraduate degree in business and economics from St. Anselm College.  She holds Accredited Pension Administrator (APA) and Accredited Pension Representative (APR) designations.  Ellen is Past President, Northern New England Chapter of National Institute of Pension Administrators.  In her spare time she enjoys running and working with various humane societies.

Jacki Betz has been involved in the pension industry since 1984.  Most recently she was a top-performing salesperson for another South-Florida based Third-Party Administrative firm.  She held this position for four years.  Prior to that, Jacki has managed TPA services offered through two Florida CPA firms, led a Daily valuation service team of ten administrators at a firm in Plymouth, Minnesota, managed a staff and handled Defined Contribution Plan administration for various Bank Trust Departments, and sold Institutional Trust products and services for two major Bank Trust Divisions in the Southeast.

Melanie Williamson has also been involved in the pension industry since 1989.  Most recently she was an Assistant Vice President of Operations at Scudder Retirement Services where she managed the Tax, Compliance and Reporting Department.  Melanie has spent the past 15 years involved in Daily Operations, Compliance resolution and Client Service Management.   She earned her MBA and undergraduate degree from New Hampshire College.

John Benton has been in the financial services industry since 2004. John draws from a diverse experience in the financial services industry in roles ranging from Pension Consultant to wholesale services for one of the largest retirement plan providers in the world, John Hancock Retirement Plan Services and Wood Logan, John Hancock's variable annuity distribution division.  John has also worked on plan design in a consultant capacity and enjoys working with CPAs and Investment Professionals in developing plan design alternatives and achieving marketing goals.  He earned his bachelors degree in finance from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia.

Dana Flaherty has been a part of The Pension Studio sales team since 2009 and works directly with clients and custodians throughout the plan design and implementation process. Dana ensures that clients are correctly established in The Pension Studio's system and helps them manage the early aspects of their retirement plan, including coordinating the plan transfers, plan documentation, enrollment meetings, and contributions. Dana earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Community Health from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Debbie Soucy has been involved in the pension industry since 1989 as well.  Most recently she was the Sr. Plan Conversion Specialist for a large TPA Firm.  Prior to plan conversions, Debbie had spent her previous 15 years in the Pension Administration handling daily plan administration, compliance testing and required IRS government reporting of retirement plans. She holds her Accredited Pension Administrator (APA) designation.

Sonia M. Fields has been involved in defined contribution administration since 1996.  She began her career as a team leader at a TPA firm in North Louisiana.  Sonia’s experience includes managing defined contribution departments and provided training to new administrators.  Sonia holds the Qualified 401(k) Administrator designation granted by ASPPA.

Jeff Jackson has worked with fortune 500 clients as well as the local physician's office in retirement plan design and consulting for the past fifteen years. Jeff has worked for Watson Wyatt Worldwide for seven years after three years with AON Consulting. In addition he did spend time with a smaller TPA firm. Most recently he has been providing consulting services for smaller plans as well as contract work for Fidelity.

Jeff holds a B.S. in Actuarial Science/Mathematics form the University of Connecticut. He is an Enrolled Actuary. Society of Actuaries, exams P, FM, M, VEE Economics, VEE Corporate Finance, VEE Applied Statistics.

Barbara Clancy has been working in the benefits arena for over 20 years with the past 10 years focused on plan administration with defined contribution plans.  Barbara holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Mercy College. She has successfully obtained an APA designation from the National Institute of Pension Administrators.

Angela Deery has been involved in the pension industry for over 10 years. Most recently she was a Senior Pension Administrator for another well respected mid-size TPA on Florida's west coast. Her experience is primarily with defined contribution plans and includes day to day administrative functions, trust accounting, compliance testing and IRS reporting for both small and large retirement plans. Prior to third party administration, Angela served as the employee benefits administrator for a mid-size employer overseeing their employee benefit programs including the 401(k) Plan. Angela holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Northeastern University.

Donna L. Currier has worked in the financial services industry for more than 20 years and has 13 years of experience in pension administration at various Third Party Administration firms. She has obtained her Accredited Pension Administrator designation from the National Institute of Pension Administrators. Her experience is primarily with defined contribution plans and includes handling day-to-day client administrative functions, preparing periodic valuation reports, completing annual compliance testing and preparing government form filings.

Duke Potter has been involved in the pension industry since 1991.  He has achieved the designation of Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) in 1999, and the QKA designation in 2003, and the Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent (ERPA) and QPA designations in 2011. He has worked as a Regional Consulting Manager, and has experience in benefits management, consulting, administration, and client services. Duke's wealth of experience includes 401(k) & retirement plan administration at various Third Party Administration Firms. His vast experience has primarily been with defined contribution plans and includes day to day administrative functions, plan design consulting, preparation of valuation reports, compliance testing and government form filings. Kathy Robertson has been in TPA administration of defined contribution plans for the past 10 years. Prior to that, she spent 12 years in the Human Resources field where she specialized in the administration of employee benefits (including 401(k) and defined benefit plans).  Kathy has a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and has her Accredited Pension Administrator (APA) designation.

Kristen Dinan has more than 13 years experience in the financial service industry and has 8 years experience in pension and technical administration. She has a strong financial background that includes accounting, banking, and client service. Prior to joining the Pension Studio team, Kristen worked for a large TPA firm for nearly eight years administrating more than 80 401(k) plans for small businesses and larger employee base clients. Daily administration included handling day to day client administrative functions, preparing quarterly valuation reports, compliance testing and required IRS government reporting of retirement plans. Kristen worked closely with financial advisors and built strong relationships with her clients. Kristen graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with a BS in Accounting/Finance and is working to obtain her ERPA designation.

Cheryl DiBenedetto has been involved in the pension industry since 1988. For 21 years she worked for another well respected TPA firm on Florida’s west coast, starting out as a trust accountant and working her way up to Senior Pension Administrator. Most recently she held a position as a Pension Consultant for a TPA firm in New Jersey. Her experience is primarily with defined contribution plans and includes day to day administrative functions, trust accounting, compliance testing and IRS reporting for all sizes of retirement plans.

Loretta Ward-Robinson has been involved in the pension administrative service industry for more than 10 years. She worked as Senior Pension Analyst for a well known TPA firm. She worked mainly with defined contribution plans, performed day to day plan administration, and prepared annual valuation reports, trust accounts and compliance testing for various sized plans. Lavone Forbes has more than 10 years experience in the financial industry.  She has worked for The Vanguard Group and T. Rowe Price.  In addition, she has worked for a well-respected TPA firm in Florida as a Senior Plan Administrator with a book of business comprised of various sized clients.

Kat Morrison has been involved in the financial service industry since 1998 when she began her career with a large brokerage firm on Florida’s west coast. After leaving the retirement plan services department, she relocated to western New York and was employed by one of the largest payroll companies in their retirement trading area. She returned to Florida and for the past 7 years has focused on pension administration, holding various positions with small to midsized TPAs, as well as with an ERISA law firm working as a paralegal. Kathy has a B.A. in International Business from the University of South Florida and holds the Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) designation granted by ASPPA.

Kathryn Kildahl started her career as a pension actuary over 30 years ago after learning first-hand that teaching math in high school is extremely difficult. She has worked in a variety of environments, from an international actuarial consulting firm, to a highly-rated insurance company, to a regional accounting firm in Minneapolis. She has provided consulting, administration, and valuation services for many types of retirement plans, eventually specializing in cash balance and traditional defined benefit plans sponsored by small to mid-sized employers.

Kathy was graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Wisconsin with a B.S. in Mathematics. She is an Enrolled Actuary, a Fellow in the Society of Actuaries (FSA), and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).
